Located on Union Road in the northwestern corner of Black Hawk County, the Rotary Reserve today is one of the largest and finest group use facilities in the State of Iowa. Featuring nearly 100 acres of wooded land along the Cedar River, and an all-season Lodge capable of hosting 300 people, it is one of the most popular spots in the area for weddings, reunions and group retreats.

The Waterloo Rotary Club purchased the Reserve in the 1920's, quickly constructing a lodge, plus outdoor cooking and picnic tables. Over the years it has seen many Club meetings, family picnics, and District Rotary events.

In the late 1980's the Club greatly expanded the Reserve through two, major initiatives. First, the property and buildings were leased jointly to the Black Hawk County Conservation Board and the Family YMCA . Then members of the Club contributed funds required to construct the new, all-season Lodge that stands there today.

During the 1990's the Conservation Board purchased property both up- and downstream, extending the public-use area beyond Rotary's original 30 acres.
